Sassy Safety InformationPlease read the following information that was provided to Gator Tots regarding phthalates and BPA information for Sassy products that are said to be BPA-free or comply with California's phthalates law. In reference to the California Phthalates law (CA Bill 1108, Chapter 672), this is a phthalates content restriction which defines limits for 3 phthalates added together for all Toys/Childcare items and then additionally defines limits for areas of Toys/Childcare that can be put into the child’s mouth to have three additional phthalates restricted. a) For Toys and Childcare Articles - BBP + DBP + DEHP = Limit of 0.1% b) For Toys and Childcare Articles which can be placed in child’s mouth – DNOP + DINP + DIDP = 0.1% As a side note, the use of the term “phthalate free” or “no phthalates” is not possible to scientifically back up with compliance documentation because there are an unknown number of phthalates and detection limits to the lab equipment that is used. Therefore it would be a violation of the Federal Trade Commission’s current requirements to state that our products are “phthalate free” or contain “no phthalates” because there is no such thing as an absolute zero in the world of scientific lab evaluation and compliance documentation. On this subject, I should probably therefore qualify our use of the term “BPA Free” to describe our products. This is based on the knowledge we currently have about where BPA is used as an ingredient in the materials our products are made from. At this time, Polycarbonate and Thermochromatic Color Change Resin are the only two materials used on our product line that we are aware of that contain BPA. Our use of the term “BPA Free” is not based on scientific evaluations or compliance documentation for all our products or materials at this time. Our current use of the term “BPA Free” is being used for those items that do not contain Polycarbonate or Thermochromatic Color Change Resin in their Bill-Of-Materials. The information regarding whether a Sassy product is PVC-free, BPA-free, or complies with California phthalates law comes directly from Sassy Inc. and is listed in the product descriptions as a courtesy to our safety-conscious customers. If and when product information changes, Gator Tots will update the information as it is provided to us. We suggest that customers concerned about product safety contact the manufacturers directly for the most up-to-date product safety information. |
